Cinematographer B Kannan dies at 69 in Chennai

He has worked as a cinematographer in over 50 films, out of which, 40 films are directed by ace director Bharathiraja. B Kannan’s sudden demise is a huge loss to the Tamil film industry. Some of the duo’s famous works include Nizhalgal, Alaigal Oivathillai, Tik Tik Tik, Mann Vasanai, Pudhumai Penn, Mudhal Mariyathai, Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, Kadalora Kavithaigal, Vedham Pudhithu, Kizhakku Cheemaiyile, Karuththamma, etc. Kannan is the son of celebrated filmmaker A Bhimsingh and younger brother of editor B Lenin.

Kannan was the HOD (Head of Department) of cinematography at BOFTA Film Institute in Chennai. The film school’s founder and producer G Dhananjayan took to Twitter to share the devastating news with the world.”Very sad to report the passing away of Legendary Cinematographer #BKannan sir, who worked in more than 50 films (40 films with @offBharathiraja sir). He was HoD at @BOFTAindia for Cinematography. Very sad we lost such a jovial & wonderful person from our team. #RIP Kannan sir (sic).”
